Assignment 1: Free Inquiry Project

For my blog, Portraits in Bloom, I have chosen to explore the history of photography and how photography can be taught in schools. I have always really enjoyed seeing and taking photos. For as long as I can remember, I have always taken pictures of everyone and everything that caught my eye. In this inquiry process I am hoping to dive into the beginning of photography and the beginning of it in Canada, the different ways photographs can be captured, and most importantly, beyond the photo. My hopes is that this blog will help me and other present and future teachers be able to teach students about photography and how it can be used both personally and professionally. For example, how to document events, tell stories, and creating impactful visuals for future careers (marketing, journalism, art, and more!), for school related projects (to teach about visual representation, storytelling, and emotions), or even for just a hobby.
