For this week, we are taking a look at photography tips (for beginners!)
I was interested in doing some research on how I can make my photos look their best, so this week I did some research on helpful beginner tips. Below you can find some of my favorites!
- Work with Your Composition
To take engaging photos, you need to be engaged with what you’re doing. Keep your horizons level, and try to eliminate any distractions in your photo by adjusting your composition. See if your photo has a sense of balance!
- Use the Camera You Already Have! Camera gear is not all that important
- Learn Which Settings Matter – There are a lot of camera settings, and it takes some practice to get them right, especially as a beginner. First, try practicing with camera modes other than full Auto. Then try and find some videos or articles on your camera and how to adjust your aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
- Pay Attention to the Light – the goal is to balance the light’s intensity between your subject and background.
These are easy tips that can be taught and used by students. This can also by helpful for students when they are taking photos for school projects; for example, photo scavenger hunts, taking self-portraits, storyboards, and presentations.
