Weekly Reflection 2
I enjoyed learning about AI from district teacher leader Darcy Mcnee, although I am not an advocate for AI. I believe that there are pros and cons to AI. Sometimes it can be used to help students or just people in general to complete tasks or learn more effectively, but I do not think AI needs to be implemented in the classroom on a regular basis. I believe students should be able to think for themselves without having a machine do the work for them. I also enjoyed learning about “Digital literacy and the use of AI in education: supports for British Columbia schools” (https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/ai-in-education) to further my understanding of AI and how the website from BC government explained AI in a great way for all different people. For example, it had a section for guardians of students, teachers, teacher leaders, school boards, and students. I am interested in learning more about AI and its effects, but I am unsure if I want to use it in my future classrooms. I also liked the tool of the week, Padlet. I think it is a great tool that keeps students anonymous while answering the discussion questions.
