What will be left after:
Now that this blog is coming to an end, I wanted to recap on all the things we discussed and how photography can look after now. At the beginning of this blog, I discussed how I wanted to create Portraits in Bloom to help teach people about photography and how it can be used/taught in schools. My hope is that this blog will help you and other present and future teachers be able to teach students about photography and how it can be used both personally and professionally in schools. I hope I helped you learn about how photography can be used to document events, tell stories, and create impactful visuals for future careers (marketing, journalism, art), for school related projects (to teach about visual representation, storytelling, and emotions), or even for just a hobby. Thank you for reading along and I am happy you were here to follow along with this process!
Let us take one last look at some photos about what will be left after the photograph is taken. Down below you will see some side by side pictures of a photo (when it was taken) and of now.

Trenches for Vimy Ridge from WW1

Trenches (preserved) for Vimy Ridge Now
This can contribute to creating a cross-curricular lesson to be socially related, teachers can teach students about WW1/WW2 and its lasting effects on people and the environment.

The Statue of Liberty in 1885

The Statue of Liberty Now
This can contribute to creating a cross-curricular lesson to be science related, teachers can teach students about why the metal changed colour, and the chemical reactions that occurred.
There are tons of different examples that you can use in your classrooms to help teach the students about social studies and science. A possible lesson could include having the students use what they have learned about photography to make their own “Then vs Now” photos and do a write up on how this could affect how the future sees us and/or find their own image for “Then vs Now” photos and do a write up on what was going on during that time and how that may have affected how the past was interpreted.
Thank you for following along and I hope you all go on to learn even more about photography!
